Each year the Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Music provides a $25,000 matching grant which allows for the introduction and continuation of transformative education outreach programs. With your contribution, you can make a difference in the life of a student in Palm Beach County.
PBS engages children in a fun musical experience with performances of one of the most internationally recognized pieces of music: Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Through this narrative performance, the Symphony partners with Ballet East to bring orchestral music to life with dance, costumes, and interactive audience participation.
We happily accept donations of professional or amateur quality orchestral instrument, such as violins, violas, cellos, double basses, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, flutes, French horns, trumpets, trombones, tubas, or pianos. We ensure the instruments meet performance standards, then donate them to underserved children or school music programs in Palm Beach County.
PBS musicians present lecture demonstrations by performing select pieces and speaking about the music, the instrument, the composer, and their own life as a musician. These unique opportunities help familiarize students with the instruments of the orchestra, the musicians, and the music they perform.
A masterclass is an individual coaching session by a master musician in front of an audience, a class, or in public. Student musicians will perform a prepared piece for expert feedback on areas for improvement, including musical technique, style, interpretative qualities, presentation, and overall musicality.
Student musicians learn technique, tone, posture, and proper instrument position in small group settings with professional PBS instrument instructors. During the last portion of the session, the students come together in a large group to work on ensemble balance rehearsing alongside our PBS musicians.
PBS collaborates with the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium in their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) nights, implemented by the Palm Beach County public school system. By incorporating the musical arts, PBS provides additional music activities, transforming STEM to STEAM (adding the A for Arts).
Advanced students get to perform next to PBS musicians. The opportunity to play their instruments side-by-side with professional musicians provides students with an unforgettable performance experience and experiential learning they can later apply to their own professional growth.
